Yvonne V. Seguin Taylor, 99, a resident of the Villas Home, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2022.
Death is not extinguishing the light: It is putting out the light because dawn has come.
Yvonne was born in Fitchburg, Mass., on Feb. 10, 1923. First born of the 14 children to the late Edmond and Albina Seguin.
Residing in Ellenburg for 96 years of her life, she attended Ellenburg Central School. She was a devout Catholic, loved her family unconditionally, and learned the value of hard work. Leadership was her strong trait. She served the church community, holding numerous offices in the Catholic Daughters and Altar and Rosary Societies, achieving the honor of District Deputy for the region, as her highest achievement. Yvonne also served the parish as Eucharist Minister and Lecturer as she continued her commitment to her faith in our Lord.
Years of accumulation of photos and community involvement, assisted her in serving on a committee documenting the history of Ellenburg and helping to publish the book "Ellenburg Yesterday and Today." She also involved herself by serving on the board of the Ellenburg Housing, becoming an honorary board member after 28 years of service.
Previous employment consisted of working at the Mooers Slipper Factory and Tru-Stitch in Malone, serving as supervisor in both locations.
Yvonne will be remembered for her Magic Bars, her willingness to always help others, being patient, spiritual and her genuine kindness. We were blessed to have her in our lives.
Left to cherish her memory are her son Edward (Judy) Taylor; step grandson Paul Trombley; great-grandchildren, Parker and Payton Trombley; siblings, Bill (Mary Ann) Seguin, Richard (Annette) Seguin, Louie Seguin (Companion Jenny), Ronald (Rose) Seguin, and Gladys Cameron; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Yvonne was predeceased by husband, George Taylor; grandson, Robert Taylor; brothers, Clayton, Norman, and Morris; sisters, Gertrude Seguin, Valeda Seguin, Veronica (Roland) Noreau, and Naida (Claude) Lamarche; and brother-in-law, Robert Cameron.
The Vilas Home has become home for her over the past few years and the family would like to express their gratitude for the wonderful care that she has received.
As well as extending a heartfelt thank you to CVPH Medical Center for the professional care from the Emergency Room to the 3rd floor staff.
