William R. Kennedy Obituary

Plattsburgh, New York - William "Bill" Kennedy, 77, of Cedar Ledge Lane, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Manhattan on Oct. 24, 1947, the son of William and Alice (Nolan) Kennedy.

After his mother's passing, Bill was raised from infancy by his aunt Annetta (Kennedy) Woodward and her husband Harry Woodward of Plattsburgh. He grew up in Plattsburgh and married Susan Czechowicz in 1971.

Bill served honorably in the United States Army after high school, later joining the Plattsburgh City Police Department, and Clinton County Sheriff's Department where he served as Undersheriff. He retired as a Customs Officer with United States Customs and Border Protection.

He enjoyed golfing, spending time at the lake and watching his grandkids' sporting events.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Kennedy; children, John (Carolyn) Kennedy, Cassidy Kennedy (Jeremy Hoy), Ryan Kennedy (Laura Lopez-Kennedy), Kara Kennedy (Ted McConaughey); brothers, Richard and Fred Woodward; brother-in-law, Joe Czechowicz; grandchildren, Jake, Susie, and Jane Kennedy, Jalyn Kennedy-Lopez, Delany Kennedy-Lopez, and many granddogs.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Interment will be at a later date in Point Au Roche Cemetery.

Donations in memory of Bill, may be made to the North Country Honor Flight.
