William Randall Delamater Obituary
Port Kent, NY - William Randall Delamater was born in Niskayuna, N.Y., on Aug. 8, 1947, and died peacefully at home on Feb. 19, 2026, at the age of 78. Throughout his life he was known for his incredible generosity, kindness, and the laughter he brought to all with his lively sense of humor. His family and friends will always remember him with love and a smile.
After graduating from high school in Schenectady, N.Y., he entered the United States Air Force, serving part of his enlistment in Vietnam. Upon leaving the USAF and returning home, he became an officer with the Rotterdam Police Department. Soon after he was accepted into the New York State Police and served proudly from 1970 to 1991 earning the rank of Zone Sergeant in Troop B. Having retired from the NYSP, he joined US Immigration and Naturalization (later called US Customs and Border Protection) working along our northern border stations for many years.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, Betty (Wilson) and John DeLaMater as well as one sister, Janette (Dennis) Rapp of Acworth, Ga.
He leaves his wife, Patricia (Dudley) Delamater of Port Kent, his daughter, Michele (Edward) Scott of Peru, N.Y., his son, William (Jennifer) DeLaMater of Queen Creek, Ariz., stepson, James (Michelle) Dudley of Denver, N.C., brothers, John (Jacqualine) DeLaMater of Mesa, Ariz., Jeffrey (Christine) DeLaMater of Peru, N.Y., and sister, Suzanne Piering of Amsterdam, N.Y., and Shannon Savage of Amsterdam, N.Y. In addition, Bill leaves grandchildren, Lea (Austin) LaCrego of West Henrietta, N.Y., Michael (Alexis) DeLaMater of Fairchild AFB, Wash., Sarah (Michael) Brun of Queen Creek, Ariz., Danielle Dudley of Sheppard AFB in Texas, and James Dudley of Denver, N.C. He was proud to be great-grandfather to one adorable little girl and two precious boys and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
As per Bill's wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. The family will gather in the summer to share memories and no doubt many moments of laughter and tears.
