Wanita M.
Wanita "Peanut" M. Drake-Pray, 67, of Oak Street, Plattsburgh, passed on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, at the UVM Health Network, Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Plattsburgh on Feb. 15, 1951, the daughter of the late Edith M. Drake.
Peanut was raised by her grandparents, Fred and Gladys (Ma) Drake and Aunt Julia Amsden. Her grandfather Fred called her his "little Peanut" from the time she was an infant and Peanut is what she preferred to be called throughout her life.
Ms. Wanita worked as a cook for JCEO Headstart for over 30 years, retiring just a few years ago. She made many friends during her Headstart years. Many may not believe it, but she never even liked to cook, but she took great pride in her work.
Peanut had a great love for watching old black and white movies, reading tabloid magazines and going to Wal-Mart, but her greatest joys were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandson. Each day she would look at videos and pictures of her grandchildren, over and over. She loved her family more than anything!
