Trudy Lyng, 87, of Webster Street, Malone, died Thursday, March 17, 2016, at the Alice Center, Malone.

Born on June 20, 1928, in Malone, N.Y., she was the daughter of Edward Zeno and Louvah (Rushford) Perry.

She was married to Edward P. Lyng on Oct. 20, 1951, in Notre Dame Church. He predeceased her on March 20, 1996.

Trudy graduated from St. Joseph's Ursuline Academy in 1945 and St. Vincent's Hospital School of Nursing in 1948. She was employed as a Registered Nurse at Alice Hyde Hospital. She also owned and operated Hallmart convenience store in Malone for many years. She was a communicant of Notre Dame Church and past member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Lady of the Year in 2011.

Trudy enjoyed gardening, furniture refinishing and helping others. She loved her children, grandchildren and spent many hours with them around the kitchen table. She was loved and respected by many.

She is survived by six children, Christopher Lyng of Malone, Jeanne LaVoie and her husband, John of Malone, Patrick Lyng and his wife, Susan of Malone, Diana Gliddi and her husband Thomas of Malone, Nancy Lyng and her fiancé, Jeffrey Gillham of Delmar, N.Y., Thomas Lyng of Cadyville; seven grandchildren, Sarah Vensel and her wife, Renee Oden, Erin Vensel and her husband, Tarek Lakhanisky, Adam Lyng, James Lyng and his fiancée, Jean Cook, Knut Gliddi, Nicholas LaVada, Mia LaVada; two great-grandchildren, Naima Vensel Lakhanisky, Mason Patrick Lyng; a sister, Shirley Mitchell of Malone; several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Norma Perry Pyn and Wilbur Pyn, Jeanne Spain; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Cressy Lyng.

There are no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 21, at Notre Dame Church.

Burial will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Lake Titus Road.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country's Alice Ballard Fund or the Malone Callfiremen.
