Cadyville, NY - Thomas Bruce Henderson, age 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, at Albany Stratton VA Medical Center, surrounded by the love of his family, both near and far. Born on May 5, 1941, in Newark, N.J., Bruce was the son of the late Thomas and Clara (Van Zile) Henderson. He graduated from Barringer High School and entered into the United States Army in 1966, serving in the 523rd Transportation Company in Vietnam. Bruce served overseas until his honorable discharge in 1968.

Upon returning from military service, Bruce attended Oklahoma Farriers' College and enjoyed a career as a blacksmith and farrier. He met the love of his life, Kim (Fittin) Henderson, at the barn where they both kept their horses. Together, they bonded over a shared love of horses and built a life in New Jersey and later in upstate New York.

Bruce was known for his easy sense of humor, his gift for storytelling, and his innate, if not incredible, ability to fix just about anything. He loved the outdoors, fishing at the pond in his backyard, taking canoe trips, and horseback riding, but he was happiest when spending time with his children and grandchildren. He especially cherished watching their sporting events and even tolerated the occasional dance recital.

In addition to his devoted wife of 43 years, Bruce is survived by his children and their spouses: Kyle and Simon Croke of Boca Raton, Fla., Ross Henderson of Wilmington, N.C., and Matthew and Rebecca (Ruscito) Henderson of Ballston Lake, N.Y. He was the proud Grandpa of Luke and Kylie Croke, Gage, Samantha, and Maverick Henderson, and the best Beepa to Harper Henderson. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

A funeral and burial will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery located at 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, N.Y.
