The Villages, Florida - Sylvia Carol Soper White, 90, passed away peacefully on Aug. 7, 2025, at 11 p.m., surrounded by her loving family at A Banyan Residence in The Villages, Fla. Born on May 23, 1935, Sylvia was the beloved daughter of Maynard and Malana Soper. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Alfie A. White (2015), her parents, and three siblings. She is survived by her three children: Phyllis Patnode, Jeffrey (Cheryl) White, and Stephen (Anne) White; six cherished grandchildren: Nicole (Eric) Maisch, Malana (Nick) Tamer, Matthew (Anne) White, Katie (Lane) Padgett, Nicole (Lamont) Grimstead, and Erik (Chelsea) Johnson; and 13 treasured great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy.

Sylvia and Alfie built a life together filled with hard work, family, and adventure. For many years they owned and operated the Grand Prix Motor Lodge and the Village Motel, welcoming guests with warmth and hospitality. In retirement, they split their time between homes on Lake Champlain and in Florida, enjoying the game of golf, time with friends, and living life to the fullest. A woman of strong faith, Sylvia was a parishioner of St. Timothy Catholic Church in The Villages, Fla., as well as Immaculate Conception and St. John's Catholic Churches in Keeseville, N.Y. She will be remembered as a kind-hearted yet spirited mother, grandmother, and friend-someone who spoke her mind, loved deeply, and brought laughter and strength to those around her. Her family is deeply grateful to everyone who offered prayers, love, and support throughout her long journey with dementia. Sylvia's warmth, resilience, and zest for life will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
