Shirley L. Prevo
Shirley L. Prevo, 85, formerly of Ellenburg Depot, passed away unexpectedly, March 21, 2020, at her residence in Palm Coast, Fla. She was born in Ellenburg Depot, N.Y., on Aug. 29, 1934, daughter of Edward and Lillian (LaValley) Prevo.
Shirley was a member of numerous organizations throughout her life and always celebrated her devoted faith in many parishes throughout the years, including, The Corpus Christi Catholic Church in St. Augustine, Fla., the Holy Cross Garden Club in Pickens, S.C., St. Edmund's Catholic Daughters, and the Altar and Rosary Society.
She never let "grass grow under her feet" and found great joy traveling back and forth across the US visiting her large family and friends. Shirley was proud of each and every member of her family and left us all with an abundance of good times and special memories.
Shirley will be missed for her beautiful smile, funny sense of humor, laughter, awesome cooking (especially her "flap jacks"), her green thumb, her energy for making any house into a home, her excitement about going to the casino, but most of all, nothing came before being a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her ten children, Roger (Eileen) Blow of Pickens, S.C., Sr. Debbie Blow of Plattsburgh, Dianne (Danny) Rabideau of Mooers Forks, Terry Blow (Amber Herron) of Debary, Fla., Karen King of Palm Coast, Fla., Kathy (Bernie) Whalen of Plattsburgh, Laurie (Jim) Fezette of West Chazy, Ricky (Missy) Blow of Ruther Glen, Va., Tim (Laura) Blow of Altamont, N.Y., and Tammy Becker of Palm Coast, Fla.; her "adopted" 11th child, Sr. Stephanie Frenette of Plattsburgh; former husband Carl Blow and his wife Joan of Palm Coast, Fla., who were her close friends; six siblings, Kenny (Linda) Prevo of Ellenburg, Harold Prevo of Ellenburg, Clarence (Carolyn) Prevo of Syracuse, Bob (Jane) Provost of Hudson, Fla., Len Prevo of Riegelsville, Pa., and Lorraine (Scott) Broderick of Plattsburgh; numerous grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; her loving and loyal canine companion, Maddi; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Shirley was predeceased by son-in-law, Chris King; great-granddaughter, Chloe King; brothers, William Prevo, Howard Prevo, and Larry Prevo; sister-in-law, Theresa Prevo; and nieces Lynn Prevo and Christine Martino .
A funeral Mass will be held at a later date in the spring at St. Edmund's Church followed by burial in the parish cemetery.
Donations in her memory may be made to the North Country Mission of Hope or the Ellenburg Depot Fire Department. Shirley was also passionate about always helping others in need, so the family asks that you donate blood at a local blood drive and/or provide an act of kindness to someone in your community.

Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of her grandson, Trevor, and the Rabideau Funeral Home, 5614 Route 11, Ellenburg.

I would like to extend my sincere condolences to Sister Debbie Blow and all her family for the loss of her mother. I was privileged to spend a couple days with Shirley, Sister Debbie, and my sister, Sister Stephanie, in January at her home in Palm Coast. Shirley opened her home to me and I felt very comfortable and enjoyed a lovely two days.
Since I am 1500 miles away in Venice, Florida, I appreciate the fact that Shirley and all of Sister Debbie's family have always treated my sister like one of their family. I will continue to pray for Shirley and all of the family in this time of sadness.
