MORIAH - Ruth R. (O'Dell) Merrill, 83, of Moriah, passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born Nov. 18, 1930, in Witherbee, to Robert and Rose (Deresky) O'Dell.. Ruth is survived by her husband, Carl Hughes Merrill of Moriah; daughters, Barbara (Merrill) Supernault and her husband Allen, Penny (Merrill) DePew and her husband Robert; and son, James Merrill Sr., all of Mineville; grandsons, David Supernault and wife Jessica, and James Merrill Jr., both of Moriah, Joseph Merrill and fianc^ Tonya of Putnam, Eric Supernault and Adam Cook, both of Mineville; granddaughters, Carla (Merrill) Harris and husband Jason of Mineville, Christine (Cook) Peters and husband Scott of Port Henry; eight great-grandchildren; and her especially wonderful neighbors, Doug and Joanne Munson. She is predeceased by her parents; and both of her siblings, Robert (Sonny) O'Dell Jr. and Joanne (O'Dell) Childs.. Ruth enjoyed warm summer days on her front porch swing, visiting with family and neighbors, yard sales, crossword puzzles, country music, and game shows.. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at Harland Funeral Home, Main St., Port Henry, with a memorial service to immediately follow.
