Rouses Point, NY - Russell James Gadway, 75, of Rouses Point, N.Y., passed away surrounded by his loving family on Aug. 21, 2026, at CVPH in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

Russ was born on May 21, 1951, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., to Lawrence and Geneva (Miller) Gadway. He grew up on a dairy farm in Mooers Forks, N.Y., where he learned his strong work ethic and powerful Catholic faith. After graduating from Mooers High School, Class of 1969, he graduated from SUNY Canton and Plattsburgh State and then received his master's in accounting from the University of Southern California. He began his working career at Harris Graphics, followed by F.W. Myers, and then with the Internal Revenue Service, where he retired in 2021.

He is survived by his loving family, including his wife and best friend, Pamela (Rochester) Gadway; sons, Herm (Martha), Tyler (Heather), and Bryce (Andrea); grandchildren, Magdelena, Chelsae, Ethan, Gavin, Hannah, Ella, Ava, Allie, Evan, Emma, Caden, and Elliott; and great-granddaughter, Eliana. Also surviving are his siblings, Annabelle LaForest, Marilyn (Gary) Provoncha, Michael (Jana) Gadway, Ronald Gadway, and Jeffrey (Lori) Gadway; as well as sisters-in-law, Marylou Gadway, Elaine Cloutier, and Debbie Collins; and brothers-in-law, Peter Braun and Danny (Annie) Rochester; along with countless cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Geneva; his son, Brandon Gadway; his daughter, Anna Langlois; and his siblings, Barbara Braun and Lawrence Gadway; brother-in-law, Paul Cloutier; parents-in-law, James Rochester, Doris and Gary Neale; and nephew, Heath Cloutier.

Russ was an adored son, dependable brother, devoted husband, loving father, and papa. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family, walking in the village, playing tennis, working at his camp on Lake Champlain, and playing games with his children and grandchildren. His legacy of perseverance, devotion, and kindness will live on through his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He will be remembered for his love of family, work ethic, trivia skills, jokes, and his ability to sneak food at all times of day and night.

We would like to thank all the wonderful friends and caregivers that helped us to keep Russ at home during his illness, including Brenda, Lee, Sue, Randy G., Janie, Dina, Marilyn, Randy F., and Linda.

We would also like to thank the staff at Meadowbrook Rehabilitation, all the nurses and doctors at CVPH caring for Russ in the ER and 3rd Floor Progressive Care, and Dr. Boyd of UVM Neurology.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026, from 10 to 11 at St. Patrick's Church in Rouses Point, N.Y., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11. The Mass will be followed by a graveside service at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Rouses Point, and a reception at the Knights of Columbus in Champlain, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in memory of Russ to the Rouses Point Fire Department, The Glioblastoma Foundation or a donation of your choice.
