Ruby L. Hughes
Ruby L. Hughes, 89, of Miller Street, Plattsburgh, passed away on Monday, Sept. 9, 2019, at Meadowbrook Health Care Facility. She was born on Nov. 4, 1929, in Asheville, N.C., the daughter of Henry and Arlene (Salters) Koon.
Ruby provided day care for many years. She enjoyed bingo, yard sales and auctions at Bridge Street Auction Service.
She is survived by three children, Gregory Hughes of Plattsburgh, Alexander Hughes and his wife Andrea of Germany and Robin Hughes of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren, Mia-Keiche Hughes Walton, Ruby Hughes, Amy Hughes; four great-grandchildren, Damaya Hughes Owens, Christian James Hughes Walton, Ava Marie Wilson, Jeremiah Alexander Wilson; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive her.
She was predeceased by her husband James A. Hughes in 2011 and twelve siblings.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.

Your mother was a wonderful lady. I met her at Bingo and our Joke was when her heavy hat was on it meant winter was here. RIP my friend.

Mrs. Ruby was such a huge part of my life 30 years as go. She took care of my son while I finished my degree. Always ran into her throught the years. Spunky energetic full of life. What a wonderful SOUL! RIP run, fly, be at peace, all who you touched are privileged to have a NEW GUARDIAN ANGEL

Ruby was such a wonderful women, in the small amount of time I had cared for her on the limited assist unit, she always knew how to brighten my day! I am sending my Thoughts and Prayers too all the family.
