Ronald L. Trombley Sr.
February 24, 1933 - March 21, 2025
Ronald L. Trombley, Sr., 92, of Rouses Point, N.Y. passed away on Friday, Mar. 21, 2025, with his family by his side, at the UVM Health Network - CVPH, Plattsburgh, N.Y.
He was born in Mooers Forks, N.Y. on Feb. 24, 1933, the son of Morris and Jeannette (Peete) Trombley.
He was a parishioner of St. Patrick's Church in Rouses Point. Ronald graduated from Mooers Central School in 1950. After graduation he joined the Armed Forces (United States Army) and served in the Korean War.
Ronald had many different jobs over his working career. In his early years he co-owned Ronnie & Larry's Shell Service Station in Plattsburgh with his uncle Larry Peete. He then went to Rosebud Creamery (Plattsburgh) where he managed the service of their delivery vehicles. Next he became Foreman at Anchor Motor Freight (Champlain) where he oversaw the maintenance of their car hauling fleet.
But the job he enjoyed the most was when he started his own business in microscopes: repair, cleaning and sales, servicing schools, labs and other businesses which he did until his retirement.
Ronald was very active in his retirement years where he had many hobbies. He was a woodworker where he built many pieces of custom furniture and furnishings for both residential homes and businesses.
He was a 36 year member of the American Legion in Rouses Point. He was also a 52 year member of the Knights of Columbus in Champlain where he built their existing Speaking Podium and Officers Display case. He played many years in the Knights Pinochle Club. He was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed watching the races. He often helped his neighbors mowing their lawns when they were away and anything else they needed help with.
Ronald's biggest enjoyment was fishing and deer hunting. He could often be found on Lake Champlain with his own boat or on a friend's boat fishing many species of fish. He enjoyed ice fishing and could be found out on the ice no matter how cold it was. Ronald was a lifelong deer hunter where he enjoyed hunting with his sons, grandsons, nephews and friends. He harvested many nice bucks over the years and harvested his last buck at age 90.
Left to cherish his memories are his sons, Ronald Trombley Jr. (Carol) and Danny Trombley Sr. (Cheryl); grandchildren, Danny Trombley Jr. (Deanna) and Cory Trombley (Taylor); great-grandchildren, Hannah and Evan Trombley and Ellie Moore; his brothers Robert Trombley and Gerald Trombley; his sister-in-law, Crystal Trombley; along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 66 years, Jeannette; his in-laws, Peter Jr. and Martha (Bordeau) Castine; his brothers and sister-in-laws, Morris, Jr. (Theresa) Trombley; Charlie (June) Trombley; brother, Larry Trombley; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard (Majorie) Castine; sisters-in-law, Shirley Trombley and Betty Trombley.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Apr. 1, 2025, from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers. Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
