Richard "Porky" McNeil, 80, of Military Turnpike, passed away July 28, 2023.
He was born on Sept. 13, 1942, son of Glenn and Evelyn (Frennier) McNeil.
Porky married the former Helen Yelle on April 11, 1964, in Holy Angels Church, Altona.
He retired from Pfizer in Rouses Point where he worked as a machinist.
Porky was well known for his many years of horse pulling and also enjoyed racing, making maple syrup, hunting, playing golf, drag racing, and bowling. Whether visiting or going for rides on his side by side, he loved the time spent with his family.
Porky was a member of the Northeast Horse Pullers Association and the Mountain Spring Hunting Club.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Helen McNeil; son, Francis (Maureen) McNeil; daughters, Kim Miller and Lisa McNeil; brothers, David (Linda) McNeil, Jim (Diane) McNeil, Pat (Joanne) McNeil, and Jeff (Peggy) McNeil; sister-in-law, Sherry McNeil; grandchildren, Jon McNeil and Jessica Miller; his loving beagle sidekick, Miss Dolly; and several nieces and nephews.
Porky was predeceased by his parents and brother, Don McNeil.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 3rd, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Rabideau Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Donations in Porky's memory may be made to the Ellenburg Depot Fire Department.
