Orville James Pratt, 85, of Mill Street, Mooers, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2024, at the UVM Health Network, CVPH in Plattsburgh, with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Plattsburgh, Aug. 14, 1939, the son of the late James W. and Agatha C. (Shea) Pratt. He grew up in Mooers Forks and graduated from Mooers High School in 1958.

He married the former Virginia Cooke, Aug. 24, 1963. She predeceased him in 2001.

Orville was a power plant operator at Wyeth-Ayerst in Rouses Point for 37 years until his retirement in 2002. Prior to that, Orville worked at West Lumber and Building Supply from 1958 until November of 1966.

Orville was a former trustee on the Mooers Village Board, former town councilman, member of the board of assessment review, zoning board, member of St. Joseph's parish.

Orville was active with the Knights of Columbus. He first joined in 1961 in Rouses Point. Later became a charter member of the Mooers when Knights was established. He was a past Grand Knight many times and 4th degree Knight.

He enjoyed working with his hands, and completing challenging tasks. Orville was always willing to lend a hand. Helping people always gave him great satisfaction.

Left to cherish the memory of Orville are his children, Michael Pratt and wife Kerry Kaminski Pratt of Plattsburgh, Shane Pratt of Mooers, and Laurie and husband Charles "Chuck" Kimbler of West Chazy; and two grandchildren, Thomas and Savannah Kimbler.

Relatives and friends are invited to call Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2024, from 11 to Noon at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers. A funeral service will follow at Noon in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel. Committal prayers and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. A reception will follow the burial at St. Ann's Parish Center, to continue to celebrate the life of Orville.
