Nancy L. McLean
Nancy L. McLean, age 69, of AuSable Forks, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019, at her home with her loving family by her side.
Nancy was born in Keene Valley, N.Y., on July 17, 1950, the daughter of Robert and Freda (Hathaway) Straight. Nancy graduated from AuSable Forks High School and worked at the Essex County Clerk's Office for 30 years, retiring as Deputy County Clerk in 2013.
Nancy lived life to the fullest and was grateful to enjoy some of the simplest pleasures. She loved organizing holidays and family events, traveling, and spending memorable time with family and friends.
Nancy was known by everyone to always put others needs before her own. One phone call and she was there (she was even the first one there without a call). She was also known to never forget any special occasion with her greeting cards and gifts. She was an active member of the Jay Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory are, her husband of 39 years, Wayne McLean; two sons, Stacy Changelo (Dorothy) and Ryan McLean; mother, Freda Straight; brothers, William Straight (Lynda) and Robert Straight (Debbie); two granddaughters, Morgan Changelo and Krystal Rockwell (PJ); two great-granddaughters; and her closest friend, Kate Ward.
Nancy was predeceased by her father, Robert Straight; and grandson, Ryan Slater.
Honoring Nancy's wishes there will be no public calling hours or services. There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, from Noon to 4 p.m. at the American Legion Post 504 in AuSable Forks, N.Y.
Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 643-9055. To offer an online condolence, share a symbolic gesture, or share a photo in memory of Nancy McLean please visit
