Mary Ellen Borst Moak, 78, of Knightdale, passed away Jan. 10, 2025. She was born June 4, 1946, in Rome, New York, to the late Ralph Borst and Thelma VanDyke Borst. Mary was a woman of many talents, known for her love of gardening and her beautiful flowers that brightened her home and the lives of those around her. She was also an exceptional cook and baker. Mary's resilience, work ethic, and no-nonsense approach to life earned her the respect of everyone who knew her. She never hesitated to speak her mind, yet her warm heart and strong devotion to her family were the foundation of her legacy. Mary will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Mary is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Norman Moak; sons, Keith (Barbara) Moak and Matthew (Vicki) Moak; son-in-law, Tom Hoke; sister, Diane Levesque, grandchildren, Tyler, Alyson, Zachary, Noah (Chloe), Emmy, and Ely Moak; and great-granddaughter, Ophilia Moak. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Christy Moak Hoke.

A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2025, at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 211 W. 3rd Street, Wendell, N.C. 27591. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
