Martin James Malone, son of Gordon and Laura, brother to Richard, lived to 81. He served in the U.S. Army (1962 -66), honorably discharged as a corporal. He often shared how his unit deployed on a special mission to Okinawa, Japan; most fellow servicemen were shipped to Vietnam.

Marty was a well-known livestock dealer and auctioneer, buying cows until two weeks ago. He often spoke about being a recovering alcoholic, giving God credit for his sobriety. He helped start Alcoholics Anonymous in Mineville, sponsoring fellow alcoholics, impacting many lives.

Marty and Norma, married for 46 years, loved living on the farm and having most of their family nearby. He was a proud father to Kelly Warner, Peter Calabrese, Glenda Fleming and Misty Meachem. He loved his grandchildren Jonathan, Avery, Desiree, Jasper, Kholton, and Khaston. His only regret in his final days was knowing he wouldn't see how their lives unfolded.

Marty Malone was one-of-a-kind, known to wear black clothes, a cowboy hat, turquoise rings, and carry $100's in his wallet. Like a true Irishman he loved talking to people, telling stories and giving advice. He played the harmonica, accordion, and guitar. He loved the Giants, a good steak, and sweets at every meal. He boasted he never got gray hair. He loved to wheel and deal, using his wits and people skills to come out ahead, but he was always generous with family, friends, and strangers. Every day he was grateful he lived in the countryside, on his own land, surrounded by nature's beauty. He will be greatly missed.
