Marjorie G. McGettigan, 98, of Kellogg Court, Plattsburgh, passed away on Aug. 3, 2024, at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Chateaugay on Dec. 8, 1925, the daughter of Charles and Lottie (Gillett) Grimshaw.

Marge as most often called, graduated from the former Plattsburgh State Teachers College School of Nursing in 1947. She worked twenty-five years in the operating rooms at the former Physicians Hospital of Plattsburgh, now CVPH and initially at the Mary McGlellan Hospital of Cambridge, N.Y.

Marge McGettigan married Robert McGettigan on Oct. 2, 1961. He predeceased her November of 2004.

Mrs. McGettigan was active in school sports and was an ardent sports fan.

She was a life member of the American Military Retirees Association Auxiliary.

Survivors include one son, James McGettigan of Plattsburgh, N.Y.

She was predeceased by her husband, three sisters, Mrs. Edward English, Mrs. Alex Roy and Mrs. Robert Ames, two brothers, Charles and Bernard Grimshaw.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 7th, at 1 p.m. at R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

Entombment will follow at Plattsburgh Community Mausoleum.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country in Plattsburgh or Malone.
