Keeseville, NY - Margaret H. Karkoski was born on Nov. 7, 1935, in Utica, N.Y., the youngest of five children to Robert S. Henry and M. Irene (Shafer) Henry.

Margaret grew up in New Hartford, N.Y. Margaret loved participating in sports and lettered in many sports in high school along with being in the school band. She was a 1954 graduate of New Hartford High School (Go Spartans).

Immediately after graduation she started working for American Telephone & Telegraph (AT&T) as a phone operator. In 1957 Margaret started working for the General Electric Company at their Utica plant as an IBM keypunch operator.

In 1959 she met Emil Karkoski who also worked for GE. They were married on June 11, 1960, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in New Hartford, N.Y. Margaret followed her husband's career and lived in Pittsfield, Mass., 1960-1963 and Mineville, N.Y., 1963-1966. In 1966 she moved to Keeseville, N.Y., and lived at 108 Prospect Rd. since 1967.

In 1978 Margaret started working for the AuSable Valley Central School district. She worked 10 years at the High School for Mr. Bergevin and then in 1988 started working at Keeseville Elementary School as a teacher's aide where she was known as Mrs. K. She retired in 2001 and had an almost 25 year retirement.

Margaret belonged to many organizations including Keeseville Peru Ecumenical Choir 30 years, Immaculate Conception Altar & Rosary society many years, RSVP Peru exercise group 20 years, Keeseville Elks Lodge 2072 and the Senior Citizens of Keeseville and AuSable Forks.

She enjoyed visiting people at area nursing homes and Champlain Valley Senior Community in Willsboro. She enjoyed the Friday night gatherings at Speedy and Sue Arnold's house. She was the Number 1 fan of the AuSable Valley Patriots.

Survivors include her four children, Kevin (Monika) of Olympia, Wash., Michael (Kaan) of Granite Bay, Calif., Paul (Karen) of Plattsburgh, and Karen of Aztec, N.M.; nine grandchildren, Gavin, Landon, Maeve, Mannix, Eleanor, Julia, Kristin, Mikayla and Kelly. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and many, many friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Emil; brothers Bob (Florence), and Bill; and sisters Eleanor (Jack), and Mary (Bill).

Calling hours will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 10 to Noon at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 124 Clinton Street, Keeseville. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Keeseville. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. A reception will follow the Mass, at the Keeseville Elks Lodge.
