Marcy Elizabeth McNally Obituary

If you heard Irish dance music echoing in the North Country area, chances are you would have run into the McNally Family and if the McNally Family was there you can be sure Marcy McNally was running the show. Whether assisting a dancer with shoes, hair, makeup, or costume, Marcy was in the thick of it encouraging others.

As a young child growing up in the area, Marcy gobbled up literature and loved the arts, especially dance. After graduating from Chazy Central Rural School in 1977 she continued her pursuit of the arts by majoring in theater at Plattsburgh State University. Realizing that she may need to eat, she decided to attend nursing school in Saranac Lake, N.Y.

Nursing became another love and passion for Marcy. Marcy worked in various medical settings throughout her nursing career including critical care, medical surgery, and also pediatric homecare. Marcy took great pride in the detailed and compassionate care that she provided to all her patients and was loved and well respected by her peers.

Galavanting throughout the East Coast working various nursing jobs, Marcy bumped into another nurse who happened to be Brian McNally. Soon they started dating and eventually Brian convinced Marcy to marry him on Aug. 31, 1991.

The nineties proved to be a very busy time for the McNally's due to the birth of four daughters-Emily Rose, Sarah Grace, Chloe Elizabeth, and Hannah Katherine.

Family came first for Marcy, her compassion and love for her husband and girls was endless. She was a huge advocate of the arts including local theater, and for a time she was the president of Champlain Valley Irish Dance which worked to bring Irish dance, music, and culture to the North Country. Marcy loved gardening and had an amazing eye for decorating. Actually one could surmise the decorating became a slight obsession with crafting the right look for a certain area of her home.

Surrounded by her children, Marcy unexpectedly passed away on Sept. 7, 2022, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

Marcy is preceded by her husband along with her parents, Karl August Berger III, and Gloria Jean (Girard) Ryan. She is survived by her daughters, and siblings: Karl August Berger IV of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Katherine Walker of East Hampton, N.Y., and Heidi Varden of Lake City, Fla., as well as several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held at Vesco Ridge Vineyard located at 167 Stratton Hill Rd., West Chazy, N.Y., on Friday, Sept. 16, 2022, from 4 to 6.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Burlington.
