Maie O'Connell, 88, formerly of Morrisonville, N.Y passed away on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025 in Syracuse, N.Y She was born on May 19, 1936, the daughter of Nigul and Meta Ebrus.



Maie was born in Estonia and emigrated to the United States with her family when she was nine years old. She grew up in West Hempstead on Long Island, N.Y and earned her teaching degree from SUNY Plattsburgh. She retired from teaching after many years of working with the visually impaired through BOCES and went on to travel extensively with her husband, Charles. She enjoyed gardening and always had beautiful flower and vegetable gardens at her home in Morrisonville. In addition she truly loved visiting and vacationing with her daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren.



She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Charles O'Connell of Syracuse, daughter Karen (Joe) Fratianni of Liverpool, N.Y, grandchildren Anna and Joseph Fratianni, also of Liverpool, along with several nieces and nephews.



She is predeceased by her parents, and her brother, Rein (Imbi) Ebrus.



At Maie's request there will be no services. A private graveside service will be held in the spring at St. Alexander's Cemetery in Morrisonville.
