Maggie Garrow, 48, from Plattsburgh, N.Y. passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 27, 2025 with her roommates and staff by her side. Maggie was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y. on April 27, 1976 to Brent Garrow and Kathleen McCorry-Tetreault. Maggie is survived by her Mom and Dad Kathleen and Shawn Tetreault, her grandparents Carl and Jeanette Clark, some aunts, uncles and many cousins. Maggie also leaves behind her best friend Kayla and her second "family" who lived and worked with her at the resident home and program.

Maggie is predeceased by her paternal and maternal grandparents and many aunts and uncles.

Maggie will always be remembered for her smile and her quick wit. She loved to make you laugh and when she would laugh it was infectious. She always tried to be the best she could be with the encouragement and support from family, peers, and staff throughout her life. With that support, Maggie had many accomplishments from competing in the Special Olympics Swim competition at Hofstra University in N.Y., to her basket weaving skills for creating an Adirondack backpack that made it to the State's competition. Most recently, she took the gold in the bowling tournament in Plattsburgh. Maggie was a very active athlete in the Special Olympics. She was a team member in softball, bocce ball, basketball, swimming, and bowling. She was very proud of her most recent bowling score of 140. She was a huge N.Y. Yankee fan and loved all things Yankee's. While she was a sporty girl, she also loved to get her hair and nails done. Maggie enjoyed home visits spending time with family, playing cards like rummy and Skip-Bo which she was a champ at both. She played cards often with her BFF, peers, and staff as well. Maggie also enjoyed boating especially when she could drive. Personal shopping and eating out were also a favorite. She worked endless hours with her BFF making diamond paintings for family and friends. She loved the talent shows that she participated in and always put her heart and soul into her song choice, her favorite was Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You. For those of us left behind "We Will Always Love You, Maggie!"

Our family would like to thank all the staff that worked with Maggie either at the home or program, her healthcare providers, peers, and all others who cared so deeply for Maggie and helped her to have the best life she could. Your never-ending care and support are what helped Maggie to thrive and grow. A special thanks to Amanda for the time and support you helped Maggie and Mom with.

Calling hours will be on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 2-6 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St, Plattsburgh, N.Y. Burial will be in the Spring at St. Joseph Cemetery in Dannemora and will be announced.
