Louise Noela Jozwiak Obituary

Louise Noela (Carte) Jozwiak of Peru, N.Y., passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Nov. 22, 2024. She was born on June 8, 1936, the youngest of Essa and Noah Carte's five children.

A 1953 graduate of Peru High School and 1956 graduate of Champlain Valley Hospital School of Nursing, she served for more than three decades as a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse.

She married the love of her life, Leonard Jozwiak, in 1958; they were devoted to each other for over 66 years. She worked part-time at CVPH hospital while caring for their five children and extended family members.

Noela's quiet, modest, and humble nature found her most comfortable in the garden and kitchen. She canned vegetables from the garden she and Len cultivated, and patiently cracked butternuts by hand to bake into her legendary cinnamon rolls.

She enjoyed reading, baking, quilling, calligraphy, crocheting and sewing, and shared these talents with others. She also volunteered at St. Augustine's Catholic School and with Catholic Daughters of America, St. Monica Court 2598.

Noela is survived by her husband, Leonard "Lenny" Jozwiak; son Leonard Jozwiak II (Pamela) of Peru, N.Y.; daughters Julie Jozwiak Murphy (David) of Apalachin, N.Y.; Michelle Jozwiak of Albuquerque, N.M.; Kristie Jozwiak Janes (Philip) of Amesbury, Mass.; Carmen Jozwiak Lachapelle (Keith) of Southbridge, Mass.; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and extended family throughout the U.S. and Canada.

She was predeceased by her parents; brothers Clyde and Charles; and sisters Jeannette and Carolyn.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Monday, Dec. 2, 2024, from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church in Peru. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Christopher J. Looby, parish priest, celebrating. Committal prayers and burial will follow in St. Augustine's Cemetery.

Memorial donations in Noela's honor may be made to St. Augustine's Church Parish Office, 1 Church Street, Morrisonville, NY 12962.
