Lorraine M. Bleau (Fritzie) Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lorraine M. Bleau, 89, residing on the Bradford Road, Plattsburgh, N.Y., on Saturday, the 1st of February 2025. She passed at her home under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the North Country. Lorraine was born in Hamilton, N.Y., the 7th of April 1937, the daughter of Clarence (Pop) and Ethel (Ma) (Nee Bigelow) Beck. Lorraine or Fritzie (as she was lovingly referred to throughout her life) grew up mostly in Plattsburgh, N.Y., with an exception of one time when her father was assigned to an Army base in Austria when she was a late teenager.

Lorraine worked and retried after 35 years of employment at CVPH in Plattsburgh. While there, she knit Christmas stocking for employees and their children, grandchildren, & great-grandchildren. There are many current or previous employees of CVPH who have generations of family members with Christmas stockings with their names on the stockings. This is how Lorraine became known as the "The Stocking Lady" at CVPH.

She enjoyed reading, gardening, knitting, and crocheting. In her late years, she became an avid stamp collector. Lorraine and her town sons both enjoyed building stamp collections, swapping stamps, and trading stamps amongst themselves and other collectors.

Lorraine is survived by a son and a daughter, David Bleau and Christine Dick; two grandchildren, Wayne and Lorrae Dick; her brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Linda Beck; her sister-in-law and her daughter, Dianne and Leslie Beck-Vios. She is also survived by several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Lorraine is predeceased by her parents; her loving husband, Ralph H. Bleau, her son, R. Joseph Bleau; her brother, Fred Beck, and her son-in-law, Keith Dick.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025 from 5-6 P.M. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 6 P.M. in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will be in the spring at St. Alexander's Cemetery in Morrisonville, N.Y., in the family plot beside her beloved husband and son. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital. Checks should be made to St. Jude's, but placed in the donation box at the funeral home. All donations will then be accumulated and sent in at one time by the family. In this manner, the amount can be used to create a small plaque for Lorraine to go on the Memory Wall (along with her son's and her husband's) as everlasting appreciation for the donations made in their names.

Arrangements are in the care of Brown Funeral Home 29 Broad St. Plattsburgh, N.Y. 12901 Telephone 518-561-3980. To offer online condolences, share a photo, or share a memory please visit www.Brownfuneralhome.com.
