Julie K. Casey Obituary

On July 15, we lost our wonderful mother, Julie Casey. Julie was born July 19, 1926, in New York City to Michael J. Hanigan and Katherine Hanigan nee Roach. After graduating from Roosevelt High School in Yonkers, she was accepted into the US Cadet Nursing Corps and graduated from Wagner College School of Nursing as an RN.

She began her career working at Bellevue Hospital in NYC, then CVPH and finally as a Clinton County Health Nurse.

Julie became acquainted with the North Country when her family took their summer vacations at Fosher's Hotel in Coopersville and later at the Anchorage.

While on vacation she met Bob Casey of Rouses Point. They were married Feb. 7, 1948. Bob and Julie made their home in Rouses Point, where they raised their six children. After retirement they wintered in Marco Island, Fla., and spent summers at Point au Fer.

She enjoyed skiing, golf, painting, entertaining, antiquing, boating, and traveling.

She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Bob of 51 years, and sister Joan.

Julie is survived by her daughters Meg (Art) Spiegel, Kerry (John) Meydam, Katie (Craig) Stiles, and her sons Rob (Lisa) Casey, Michael (Julie) Casey, and Joe (Heather) Casey. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua, and Casey Spiegel, Shannon and Erin Casey, Mike and Sean Casey, Kailey and Dan Maher, Emily Stiles, Meghan Aldrich and Ryan Casey; her niece Jean Nutt; and 20 great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Church in Rouses Point on Friday, July 19th, at 11 a.m. with visitation at the church one hour prior to the funeral.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Maple Hill Cemetery, 27 Clinton St., Rouses Point, NY 12979.
