Judith (Clark) Sweet, age 85 of Oneida, N.Y., died on Feb. 14th, 2025, Valentine's Day.

Born in Rouses Point, N.Y., on July 16, 1939, she was the daughter of Elwin B. and Anna M. (Pratt) Clark. She graduated from Plattsburgh High School in 1957, earned a degree in Business and Public Management from SUNY Institute of Technology, Bachelor of Arts from Ottawa University, and a Master of Science degree from Plattsburgh State University. She held permanent teaching certificates in Elementary Education, French and Guidance.

Judy taught full-time for ten years, substituted, and then had a sixteen-year career at SBU where she was Main Office Branch Manager and later President of SBU Financial Services. She held securities and insurance licenses and the Certified Financial Planner designation. She was also the Compliance Officer for SBU Financial Services.

Upon retirement at SBU she became the Director of Development for the Oneida Healthcare Foundation, a position she held for almost seven years.

She was President-elect of the Rotary Club of Utica, a Paul Harris fellow, New Careerist for the Utica Business and Professional Women's Club, a financial delegate to China for People to People, received SUNY Institute of Technology's Distinguished Service to Profession and Community Award, was inducted into the State University of New York's Alumni Honor Roll and was a member of Oneida's Progress Club. She was both a deacon and elder at Oneida First Presbyterian Church and served on the Finance Committee. She was a board member of Presbyterian Homes Foundation and a board member of Oneida Healthcare Foundation as well as a member of Central New York Watercolor Society.

Judy was proud to be the wife of Jim Sweet with whom she shared a wonderful, active life, enjoying tennis and skiing, trips to Wimbledon for the major tennis tournament, NYS, many times to the US Open tennis tournament, and Lake Placid, and MOST OF ALL SHARING TIME WITH THEIR WONDERFUL DAUGHTERS, KARA AND WENDY WHOM JUDY ALWAYS DESCRIBED AS HER MOST SATISFYING AND JOYOUS ACCOMPLISHMENT.

Her favorite roles have been wife, mother, mother-in-law, and nana.

Judy leaves behind her husband, Jim, her daughter, Wendy Sweet Wilson, her son-in-law, Chris Wilson from Sandwich, Cape Cod, Mass., her grandson, Taj James Sweet Amaro, two granddaughters, Miranda and Scarlett Gobron, a son-in-law, Bob Gobron, of Southborough, Mass., his wife, Betsy Flynn Gobron and her three sons, Max, Zane and Cole.

She also leaves behind her beloved sister, Carolee Messina of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Ingrid Clark, of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews and cousins.

Judy's heart was broken when her daughter, Kara Sweet Gobron, died of cancer at the age of only 38 when her daughters were only one and three.

She was also predeceased by her mother and father, Elwin and Anna Clark and her brother, Paul Clark.

There will be a Celebration of Life held to honor Judy at a date and time to be announced. Anyone wishing to make a donation may do so in honor of Kara Sweet Gobron to the Dana Farber Cancer Research Center.
