Joyce Frances (Perry) LaMere, 84, of Merrill, died Saturday, June 13, 2020, at her home with her loving family by her side and aided by Hospice of the North Country.

Born on May 26, 1936, in Merrill, N.Y., she was the daughter of Francis and Bessie (Burgess) Perry.

She was married to John LaMere on Jan. 22, 1955, in St. Bernard's Church, Lyon Mountain. He predeceased her on Aug. 11, 2010.

She graduated from Lyon Mountain High School in June of 1954. Joyce was a very devoted Catholic. She loved going places with her neighbors and friends, whether it was shopping, the casino or lunch with her classmates that she graduated with. She would walk every day to a neighbor's house to visit with them.

In her earlier years, she traveled the east coast from hospital to hospital to try and find a cure for muscular dystrophy, which three of her children had. She worked at Tru-Stitch in Malone for a time.

Joyce was a third-generation member for the Board of Election behind her grandfather and father.

On May 26, the family gathered and gave her an 84th birthday party which she celebrated with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joyce is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Jerry Hamelin of Merrill; a son and his companion, Michael LaMere and Eileen Durant of Merrill and Great Barrington, Mass.; five grandchildren, Shawn (Sarah) Hamelin, Shannon Hamelin Sequin (Stewart), Chasity LaMere LaPorte (Gordon), Natasha LaMere LaMoy (Jason) and Brandon LaMere; seven great-grandchildren, Rece, Rylie, Daniel, Isabel, KoriLynne, Arizona and Larry; a sister, Jean LaPoint of Malone; three sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Ethel and Judy LaMere, Mary (LaMere) Gardner and Lansing Gardner; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, Joyce was predeceased by her parents; a son, Johnny Joe LaMere; two daughters, Bonnie and Brenda LaMere; a granddaughter in infancy, Nicole; a sister and brother-in-law, Jackie and Francis LaPoint; three brothers-in-law, Francis, Robert and Delphus LaMere; and two sisters-in-law, Dora Secore and Lillian Joanette.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be held in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Lyon Mountain.

Donations in Joyce's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or Lyon Mountain Ambulance Fund.
