Joseph J. Aesquivel Obituary

Joseph J. Aesquivel, 59, of Howard Dr., passed away Friday, June 14, 2024, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Seattle, Wash., on Aug. 25, 1964, the son of Frederick and Marlene (Polhemus) Aesquivel.

Joseph lived life to the fullest and had a zest for life that was unmatched. His life was the definition of overcoming adversity as he took on each challenge with strength, bravery, hope and humor. Because of these attributes he was an inspiration to all those he came in contact with and made a lasting impression on all those whom were fortunate enough to have been in his presence. Their lives are forever changed because of this and he will live on through all who knew him.

Before age 18, he had already lived in states that some people only dream of. He was born in Seattle, Wash., moved to Alaska and then California before coming to the east coast and building a life here with the love of his life.

During his time here he accomplished many things including building their home that was fully wheelchair accessible and getting certified as a scuba diver. He took two once in a lifetime trips to Bonaire and Fiji Islands to put his scuba diving skills to use. There were three unforgettable vacations that were taken as well as traveling up and down the east coast. Joe enjoyed reading Stephen King novels in his younger years, was an avid football fan and enjoyed watching the Seattle Seahawks and the Kansas City Chiefs.

One of his greatest joys was being on his boat with friends and family. He absolutely loved the feel of the ride and the sense of freedom it brought to him. He always made it a point to stop for driveway visits to see all of the kids.

Those left behind to cherish his memory include his fiancee, Delsie Bull; stepmom (Dee), half-siblings (Michele, Christie, Fred), sister-in-law, Lisa (James) Bull-Dowdle; niece, Jessica (Justin) St. Louis; nephew Evan (Renee) Bull; great-nieces and nephews, Jackson Jeffrey, Vivienne Jane, Joelle Alyse, and Alvin Jeffrey; extended family and friends, aunt Patti, uncle Ron, Sean, Julie, Saul, MJ, Ben Rogg and Doria. Caregivers (Jan, Kendra, Kelsey).

He was predeceased by his parents, mother (Marlene), father (Fred) step-dad (Tony); brother (Jeffrey), mother-in-law, (Jane), father-in-law (Alvin), brothers-in-law (Jeff) and (Brock).

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Peru Fire Department, St. Augustine's Church Soup Kitchen in Peru.
