Longs, South Carolina - Helen Swift, age 78, of Longs, S.C., passed away peacefully in her home on Nov. 12, 2025. Born Aug. 18, 1947, in Laurel, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Grace Geesey.
Helen is survived by her loving husband, David Swift; her sons, Michael (Jenna) and Andy (Chrissy) Gerchak; and her cherished grandchildren, Cael, Zeke, Andrew, Emily, and Thomas. She was married to Emil Gerchak until his passing in 2006.
Helen earned a masters degree in education from Shippensburg University and taught for her entire career at Palmerton High School in Pennsylvania. She was a proud member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Outside of her professional and spiritual life, Helen enjoyed golfing and shag dancing, passions that brought her joy and connection with others.
Funeral services will be private, and interment will take place at North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens. Lee Funeral Home and Crematory of Little River is serving the family.
