Gordon A. "Gay" Young, 90, of Maple Street, Willsboro, passed away peacefully on Aug. 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born May 17, 1934 in Plattsburgh, the son of Donald O. and Janet (Logie) Young.

He grew up in Willsboro and attended Willsboro Central School. Gordon enlisted in the United States Army in 1956 and proudly served until his Honorable Discharge in 1962.

On May 17, 1958, Gordon married Patricia Hoskins at the Congregational Church in Willsboro.

Gordon worked in shipping at the Plattsburgh Air Force Base. He was a founding member of Trout Pond Trotters Hunting Club and was an active member of the Willsboro Fire Department for over 62 years.

Left to cherish the memory of Gordon are his wife of 66 years, Patricia (Hoskins) Young; daughter, Lori Cross (Becky); daughter-in-law, Wanda Young; grandchildren, Neil Young (Kristin), Mallory McGiness (Thad), Brittany Pope, Dillon Ashline (Frank), Kaylyn Cross (Dustin); seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nona Hoskins; many adopted grandchildren; special neighbors and friends, John and Cathy Alden; special helpers, Adriane and Eric Holland; and his Fire Department Family.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Glen S. Young; daughter, Kandy A. Pope; brother, Rae Young; and his in-laws, Wesley and Julia Hoskins.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2024, at 11 a.m. in the Lakeview Cemetery, Essex Road, Willsboro, with Deacon Paul White, officiating. The Willsboro Fire Department will be at graveside to announce Gordon's Last Call. A reception will follow at the Willsboro Fire Department.
