Gladys  Pierce
Gladys M. (Germain) Pierce, 96, passed away on Dec. 28, 2019, at the Clinton County Nursing Home.
She was born April 11, 1923, in Saranac, N.Y., the daughter of Elmer and Rose (Provost) Germain.
Gladys married the late Ernest H. Pierce on June 1, 1942, at the Saint Louis Cathedral in the French Quarter of New Orleans, La. Gladys was predeceased by her husband Ernest H. Pierce in 1981. She was also predeceased by two brothers, George and Harold Germain, and five sisters, Violia Diagnault, Lauria Butchino, Marion Dillon, Claira Noel, and Larana Wheeler.
Mrs. Pierce attended Dannemora School. She worked in a factory in Buffalo during World War II and then worked in hydro molding in the 50's and 60's. She and her husband then opened a bar on Bridge Street called The College Inn.
While she worked, Gladys was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Post and her companion David Cook. She is also survived by a grandson, Jeffery P. Post in Tennessee, and a granddaughter, Cheryl A (Post) Rascoe in Saranac. Gladys also leaves behind a great-grandson, Jacob Finley of West Chazy and a great-great-grandson, Carter Finley, also of West Chazy.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will take place in the spring in St. Peter's Cemetery.

She lived a good long life! I don’t remember much about Aunt Gladys, only when we went to visit Mimai. I hope she didn’t suffer. Warm thoughts to you Carol.
