Geraldine Dumesnil
Geraldine H. Dumesnil (Grimshaw) of Plattsburgh, N.Y., passed away at the CVPH Medical Center on Sept. 12, 2019, with family by her side. She was born on July 11, 1934, to Henry Grimshaw and Bertha Grimshaw (LaPointe).
Gerri was a stay-at-home mom for the first years of her marriage and raised her three sons. She then went on to work and retire from Ames Department Store in Champlain. She enjoyed every day of her work there as her goal was to make her "customers" happy! Gerri also found time to wallpaper and paint many homes in the North Country.
Gerri was very proud to called a "farmer's daughter." She was also active as a Cub Scout leader, hockey mom and member of the Catholic Daughters of America in Champlain, Post 716 American Legion Auxiliary and the Plattsburgh Moose Lodge Women of the Moose.
Her hobbies included canning, candy-making and baking her "world famous" meat pies! Her pickled beets, bread and butter pickles, peppermint patties and peanut butter balls will surely be missed by all.
Gerri is survived by her three sons, Robert and wife Marcia, of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Steven of Champlain, N.Y., and Brian and wife Karen of Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Joshua of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Conner, Drake and David of Phoenix, Ariz. She is also survived by two sisters, Barbara Grimshaw and Beverly Belvery and husband Bruce, sister-in-law Maggie Bombardier and husband John, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Gerri was predeceased by her husband, Romain (1989) and two sisters, Doris Strack and Joan Mayotte.
There will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019, at 12 noon at the Plattsburgh Moose Lodge, 90 Sharron Avenue. Donations in Gerri's memory can be given to the Champlain, N.Y. Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.

During the ten years I lived in North Country, I was fortunate enough to spend some time with Geri and her family. I knew her by her famous goodies even before I met her in person. Her pickled beets were incredible! Geri made herself know in a crowded room, with her warm hugs, her jokes, and a way about her that made a stranger feel very welcome. My heart goes out to her family, for their loss. She was very special.

It breaks my heart to lose another sister so soon. Geri was a character and she was loved by many. She loved people and people loved her. I will miss her. We have lots of family memories to comfort all of us.
