George E. Fountain Obituary
Plattsburgh, NY - George E. Fountain passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on April 11, 2026, at the age of 88.
Son of the late Stella (LaTour) and George E. Fountain, George was a lifelong resident of Plattsburgh. He graduated from Mount Assumption Institute in 1956 and began his career at Conner's Pharmacy. He became a Pharmacy Tech while working at Baker's Pharmacy, and when they closed down he moved to Condo's Pharmacy, where he remained until his retirement. He
loved helping people and was extremely kind and patient with all his customers.
George was an active member of St. Peter's Church. He served as a Eucharistic minister, sang in
the choir led by George Shnob, ran the Dime Pitch every year at the French Festival, and was famous for the special punch he made for gatherings served in the Emmaus Room by the Bethany Committee. In addition to his church activities, George was a member of Cumberland Bay Barbershop Chorus with Jim Varno and Lucian Bernard, and he volunteered at Mission of Hope with Sister Debbie.
George's greatest joy was spending time with his family. He married Alice (Ryan), who was the love of his life, in 1957. Together they had seven children: Sue (Paul) Williams, Patty (Dana) Brand, Daniel (Eugenia) Fountain, George Fountain, Mark (Tamara) Fountain, Christopher Fountain and Kevin (Jeanette) Fountain. George and Alice had 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
George is survived by his wife, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his sisters-in-law Grace Rascoe and Peg Rascoe, his brothers-in-law Maynard Rascoe and Homer Fournier,
and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by his son George J. Fountain, his son-in-law Paul Williams, his sister Marie and her husband Aloysius Carney, his sister-in-law Mary Fournier, and his brother-in-law Richard Rascoe.
The Fountain family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the staff at Plattsburgh Rehabilitation & Nursing Center for the compassionate care they provided to George and the whole family.
