Ferdinand J. Songayllo (Fred)
December 22, 1932 - August 23, 2026
Ferdinand (Fred) J. Songayllo, age 93, passed away peacefully at his home in Glenville, N.Y. on Aug. 23, 2026.
Born on Dec. 22, 1932, in Chicopee, Mass., Fred was the son of the late Alexander Sr. and Katherine Nowak Songayllo.
After graduating from the University of Chicago with a Master's Degree in psychiatric social work and serving in the U.S. Army at Fort Sill, Okla., he moved to Chazy, N.Y., and worked for the Clinton County Mental Health Clinic for 35 years.
He found joy in many pursuits throughout his life including sailing, travel, volunteer work, and skiing. He had an extra passion for classical music and photography, and was known for his love of family and conversation, and compassion for others.
Fred is survived by his loving sons David (Laurie), and Eric (Patricia), and granddaughter Julia Songayllo. He will be missed by his many friends.
Fred was predeceased by his brothers Alexander and Raymond.
Commemorative services will be held at a later date.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Orders placed in:
January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
