Born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (King) Defayette.

Surviving Eunice is her loving husband of 63 years, Gordon; they were married on Oct. 20, 1962, in St. Peter's Church. She is survived by her children, Kathryn (Tim) Frederick, Sara (Jim) Spring and Andrew (Lynn) LeClair, two grandchildren, Rachel Frederick (Kevin Hutchins) and Zachary Frederick. One brother-in-law Robert Zuck and two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Defayette and Julie Defayette along with many nieces and nephews also survive.

Eunice was predeceased by her siblings: Regina (Clifford) Rollier; Remie (Dora) Defayette; Catherine (Ambrose) Kipp; Anita Topnick; Gilbert (Arlene) Defayette; George (Jane) Defayette; Roseanna Zuck; Roger (Carolyn) Defayette; Clifford Defayette.

Eunice was a devout Catholic; her religion was of utmost importance to her. She enjoyed rides to Mother Cabrini's Shrine in Peru. Eunice wanted to be a stay-at-home mom until her children were in school. This was important to her and she accomplished this. She was also a talented seamstress which included knitting, crocheting, needlepoint and quilting. Eventually she became interested in cake decorating as she wanted her children to have a nice birthday cake. In time she had a successful cake business that also included teaching classes at Clinton Community College.

We would like to thank the following agencies in caring for our mom. Without their help we would not have been able to keep mom at home. They are as follows: North Country Home Health Services: Lisa, Liz, Melissa, Dorothy, Madison, Linda and Kate. Hospice of the North Country: Becky, Ashley, Jenn and Jess. Plattsburgh State's Alzheimer's Association: Nick, Mikayla, Tina and Heidi.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 20th, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, February 21st. at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the following: Covenant House, St. Jude Children's Hospital or Hospice of the North Country.
