Reber, New York - Douglas Albert "Doug" West, 73, of the Spear Road in Reber, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's.

He was born in Elizabethtown, on July 12, 1951, the son of John Albert and Alberta Ruth (Coonrod) West.

Doug grew up in a loving farming family and took immense pride in their family farm that was established in 1840, Cloverlands Farm, in Reber, N.Y.

Doug was a dedicated and proud member of the Reber Methodist Church, the Reber Fire Department, and the Farm Bureau. His commitment to his community was unwavering, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand.

In 1980, Doug married Beulah "Billie" West at the Reber Methodist Church, embracing her two children, Robin (Jerry) Pierce and John (Rebecca) Morris, as his own. He was a loving and devoted "Poppy" to their five children and six great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them.

Together, Doug and Billie continued the West family farming legacy after acquiring the farm, until they ventured into a new endeavor, Doug West Sand and Gravel. Doug's hard work and dedication were evident in everything he did.

Doug is survived by his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Curtis (Alice) West of Culpeper, Va., and his nieces, Jessica West of The Plains, Va., Briana West, husband, Dan Holmes and their daughter, Wylie of Culpeper, Va.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Marshall West.

Calling hours will be held Friday, May 30, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Reber Church in Willsboro, N.Y. Committal prayers and burial will follow in the Reber Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Doug's name can be made to the Reber Methodist Church.

Doug's legacy of love, kindness, and community spirit will forever be remembered by all who knew him.
