Peru, NY - Douglas Brown, 105, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 4, 2026.
He was born in Hemmingford, Quebec, and grew up in Mooers, N.Y. He served in all major battles on the WWII Western Front in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a rural letter carrier, owned Peru Hardware, and enjoyed square dancing, boating, and golfing. Doug was a long-time woodworker and accomplished wood carver, hobbies he enjoyed until his sudden death.
Left to cherish his memory are daughters Gail (Ed) Moore, Wendy (Bob) Silverman, Rona (Russell) Doyle; granddaughters, Courtney Wade and Ellen Montague; great-granddaughter Rebecca Montague; his brother Clifford Brown, and many nieces and nephews.
Doug was predeceased by Helen, his wife of 72 years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Peru Fire Department, North Country Honor Flight, or CVPH Foundation.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate his life on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel, Peru. Burial at the convenience of the family.
