Mooers Forks, NY - Denise Rosemary Sample, 79, of Mooers Forks, N.Y., passed away on Nov. 9th, 2025, on her way to her Florida home. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a cherished member of her community whose life was marked by kindness, generosity, and an unwavering love for those around her.

Born on May 3rd, 1946, in St. Albans, Vt., to Gerard and Jeanette Tarte, she grew up on their family dairy farm in Highgate, Vt. She graduated from Highgate High and went on to Secretary School. She then attained a job at Ayerst Laboratory in Rouses Point in a secretary role. While there she met her husband George Sample, whom she married on Aug. 27th, 1966. They then moved to Mooers Forks, N.Y., where they began their life and family together.

Denise was very proud of her large family. She was a mother of three sons, ten grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Her sons and their spouses are Todd and Elizabeth Sample, Patrick and Amie Sample, and Bradley and Alyssa Sample. Grandchildren are Tyler Sample and his wife Amanda, Dylan Sample and his wife Sondra, Evan Sample and his wife Paige, Chase Sample and his wife Faith, Emily (Sample) Gradoni and her husband Caleb, Peyton (Sample) Smart and her husband Dehstin, Ireland Sample, Bryn Sample, Liam Sample and Maeve Sample. Great-grandchildren are Eli, Gracyn, Elliot, Beckett, Charlotte, Max, Henley, Samuel, Alara and Mason.

Denise was a stay-at-home mom, until her children were older, where she then worked as a postal clerk in Mooers, N.Y., for many years until retirement. She was very involved with her family along with her two sisters, whom she greatly appreciated, and her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law who, along with her immediate family, were always there to help whenever needed. She was very devoted to her Catholic faith, praying throughout each day for anyone in need. She was a member of the Ladies of Saint Ann's Church in Mooers Forks where she was also involved in her local community.

In her free time, Denise enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and loved to play cards and bingo with her friends locally and in Florida at the Rainbow Resorts where she resided during the winter months.

Denise Sample is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sisters Pauline Beyor and her husband Gordon, and Monica Miller and her husband Leeward. Her sisters-in-law, Norma Rabideau, Scarlett Sample, Sandy Sample and brothers-in-law, Ally Sample and Sally Sample also survived her.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 51 years George Sample, her parents Gerard and Jeanette Tarte, in-laws David and Alma Sample, her brother Marcel Tarte, nephew, Brian Beyor, niece Olivia Tarte, brothers-in-law Donald Rabideau, David, Jr Sample and his wife Sharron, Bruce Sample, and Roger Sample.

Denise Sample's memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her love, resilience, and the countless ways she enriched the lives of others.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025, at Noon at St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks, N.Y. Committal prayers and burial will follow in St Ann's Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow the burial, with details to be announced at the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St Ann's Church in Mooers Forks, N.Y., or the Mooers Fire Department.
