Plattsburgh, NY - Dean Linsley, 67, of Plattsburgh, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Dean was born on Jan. 13, 1958, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., to Merritt and Mary Linsley. He spent much of his life enjoying the outdoors. Whether sitting in a field at sunrise, casting a fishing line into quiet waters, or tracking deer through the woods, Dean found joy in the simple moments and the people he shared them with. He especially cherished the time spent passing along his love for hunting and fishing to his great-nephew Taylor, creating memories that will last for generations.

He worked for many years at Clinton Correctional Facility. Beyond his work, he was known for his big laugh, his quick wit, and his gift for making those around him feel welcome. He loved to tell a good story and had a way of turning everyday moments into cherished memories.

Dean is survived by his mother, Mary Linsley; his brother, Richard Linsley; and his sisters, Mary Lou Shipe and Denise Matton. He also leaves behind his nephews Jesse Matton and Clint Matton (Gabby) and his nieces Robyn Snyder, Tammy Staley (Mike), and Terri Linsley (Dennis Giddings). He was a proud godfather to Walter LaPan Jr. and is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Merritt Linsley; his brother, Kevin Linsley; his sister-in-law, Brenda Linsley; and his brother-in-law, Alan Shipe.

To his family and friends, he was lovingly known as "Uncle Dean," a title he wore with pride and joy. Though he did not have children of his own, he took great pride in being an uncle and sharing his passions with those he loved.
