David J. Rule,

A beloved father and devoted friend left this world peacefully on Mar.23, 2025, at the age of 88, in North Liberty, Iowa, due to natural causes. He was born on Feb. 25, 1937, in Peasleeville, N.y. to Clifford H. Rule and Jennette G. Savage, who preceded him in death.

David's life was a tapestry woven resilience, and adventure. Survived by his three sons: David L. Rule, Greg P. Rule, and Halsey J. Rule. He also leaves behind good friends Lee and Jennifer Lintz, who graciously opened their home to him, providing companionship and support that enriched his later years.

In his youth, David proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, embodying the values of courage and commitment that would stay with him throughout his life. After his military service, he became an over-the-road trucker for Transportation America, a job that allowed him to explore the vast landscapes of this country, driving his beloved 18-wheeled machine. He cherished the freedom of the open road and the beauty of the country's scenery, making memories along the way.

David was known for his love of the great outdoors. Whether it was hunting, fishing, or trapping, he found joy and solace in nature. Those who knew him can fondly remember his adventurous spirit, the thrill of the catch, and the quiet moments spent in the woods. He had a special fondness for donuts and sweets, often sharing these simple pleasures with friends and family.

David was preceded in death by his parents and son Martin J. Rule, whose memory brought both sorrow and strength to the family. His absence will forever be felt, a reminder of the love that transcends beyond this life.

A funeral service to celebrate David's life will be held at a later date, allowing family and friends to gather in remembrance of the man. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor, details of which will be shared at the service.
