Cynthia Perry Obituary
Poestenkill, NY - Cynthia B. Perry, 91, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday morning, Feb. 21, 2026.
Born on Dec. 26, 1934, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., Cynthia was the beloved daughter of Warren H. and Alma S. Brelia. She was raised in Peru, N.Y., and attended Peru Central School. Over the years she made many places home; living in Tucson and Wilcox, Ariz.; Kissimmee, Fla.; and Wynantskill, N.Y., where she ultimately settled surrounded by the comfort of family.
Cynthia lived a life defined by independence, resilience, and strength. She was proud of the many roles she held throughout her life. She worked as a payroll clerk for her father's Chevrolet dealership, filled in as a bookkeeper, and worked for New York State at the Whiteface Mountain Summit. She served as a clerk typist at the Watervliet Arsenal from 1953 through 1956, and later as a teller at National Commercial Bank/Key Bank until 1959, as well as at Albany Savings Bank in Plattsburgh.
Cynthia and her first husband owned and operated Jeanne's Dairy Bar until it was sold in 1965, where she managed operations while also handling construction bookkeeping. They also owned Iroquois Campground together in the 1970s and early 1980s. She later worked in management and office administration for contractor and construction projects at Plattsburgh Air Force Base, coordinating with engineers and overseeing office operations. After moving to Troy in 1981, she was involved in the family businesses C.D. Perry and Sons, Inc. and Troy Slag Products Co., Inc., serving as payroll clerk beginning in 1985. In recent years, she continued assisting with investments and coordinating with the office for C.D. Perry, LLC from home. She took great pride in the Perry family businesses and the legacy they built.
She also found joy in simple pleasures that reflected her spirited personality. Cynthia enjoyed target shooting with her pistol, bowling, and watching their Perry Farms standardbred pacers and trotters.
Above all, Cynthia treasured her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack Edward Perry, and her infant son, James Joseph Ondrek.
She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Jeanne Marie Ondrek Arnold and her husband Timothy, who she often described as her rock; always there to listen, support, and help when she needed it most. Her legacy continues through her stepdaughter Jackie Perry Gould, grandson Dustin J. O. Bedore; stepgrandchildren, Taylor Arnold, Cristy Arnold Lindner, Adam Gould, Brittany Gould, and Kaitlyn Gould; stepgreat-grandchildren, Lucas, Lauren, and Madison O'Brien; nieces, Amelia Alma Brelia Davis, Brenda Brelia Lamoy, and Suzanne Brelia Burnett; and nephew Joseph Brelia.
The family extends their heartfelt appreciation and love to Kevin Gould for his years of kindness and dependable help, just as he had faithfully done for his father-in-law, Jack, for many years before.
The family would also like to extend their deepest gratitude to all of her caregivers, who were not only caregivers but dear friends. They adopted her into their own families, made her days brighter, and kept her safe and comfortable until the end: Melissa Lyman, Corinne Tario, Marti Kjelland, Melissa Mullen, Mary Provost, and Rebecca Provost.
Special thanks are extended to the entire Warren and Don Fane families for keeping the Perry legacy alive and flourishing; to the entire William Doyle family for their steadfast advice and loyalty through the years; you all meant the world to Jack and Cynthia; and to Sister Kate, Sister Rita, and Deacon Bob for their faithful visits to the home during Jack's many years of illness.
Cynthia also cherished her lifelong friendship with Patricia Frank; no matter the distance, they always kept in touch.
Cynthia will be remembered for her determination, wisdom, and loyalty to the people she loved. She was strong-willed yet caring, independent yet devoted, and a steady presence whose love was shown more through actions than words.
Services will be held privately for her family.
