Carmelita Linda (St. Andrew) Babbie, 78, of the Creek Road, Champlain, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at her home under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the North Country.

She was born in Champlain on Sept. 24, 1944, the daughter of Francis and Edith (Baker) St. Andrew.

Carmelita was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with family and friends. She loved to crochet, play Yahtzee and Aggravation. She was a homemaker and worked for the Ski Shop, a nursing home in Vermont and the Savoy.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 58 years, Gerald B. Babbie; children, Gerald F. Babbie and his husband Danieal Barnes, William Babbie and his wife Terry, Shelley Roberts and her husband Michael, and Roxanne Downs and her husband Bill. Her grandchildren, Brandon McKinley, Sarah (Anthony) Jensen, Courtney (Kevin) Sterling, Ryan Babbie and his girlfriend Rebecca Antonakos, and Oceanna Roberts. Her great-grandchildren, Scarlett Bischoff, Frederick Jensen, Lenore and Reyn McKinley.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Ramona Blondo, Bertha Phaneuf, Nora Mercaldi and Agatha St. Andrew; and her brothers, Richard and Russell St. Andrew.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, May 15, 2023, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Champlain. Committal Prayers and burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Carmelita Linda Babbie may be made to Hospice of the North Country and/or the FitzPatrick Cancer Center.
