Carla M. Brotherton, 66, of Plattsburgh, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at her residence. She was born Monday, May 26th, 1958, the daughter of Carl V. Hathaway and Mary (Poland) Hathaway.
Family was everything to her, just having her extended family around would bring her such delightful happiness and she cherished every waking moment with them. She loved camping and going to the casino with In the Money being her favorite game. With her husband, Chuck Brotherton, they opened up and operated This & That.
Carla found great joy at helping people out and an ear to listen.
She is survived by her children, Marla Marbut and her husband Bob, and Michael Provost; grandchildren, Brooke Marbut, Hunter Marbut, Alexander Provost, Dayna Provost, and Raelyn Provost; great-grandchildren, Raelynn Marbut and Peyton Marbut; her mother, Mary Hathaway; stepchildren, Jeff Brotherton and Michelle Brotherton; siblings, Spencer Hathaway and his wife Vanessa, Curtis Hathaway and his wife Amber and Dianne Gehrkens and her husband Glenn.
She is predeceased by her father, Carl Hathaway, her husband, Charles Brotherton and her nephew, Brennan Hathaway.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 12 to 2 p.m. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Champlain Valley Family Center.
