Mr. Brian Wesley Mitchell Obituary

Wilmington, NY - It is with the heaviest of hearts I have to announce the passing of Brian Wesley Mitchell, 57, of Wilmington, N.Y., on Aug. 8th, 2025, after a long fight with gall bladder bile duct obstructions.

Brian was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on April 22nd, 1968, to Leslie and Diana Mitchell of Jay, N.Y. He graduated from AuSable Valley Central High School in 1986 and worked as a proud local truck driver for most of his adult life.

There wasn't a truck Brian couldn't drive; dump trucks, log trucks, crane trucks, bucket trucks and of course, he loved his pickup trucks! Baseball, oozeball and bowling were among Brian's favorite hobbies. From playing youth basketball and high school baseball in his younger years to playing softball and bowling with his father and brother as he got older, he naturally motivated good sportsmanship and camaraderie in every group he was part of.

Everyone knew Brian (Mitch, Stretch, Batman) for the truly wonderful man he was. He made an impression on almost every person he came into contact with. Even when he was half way around the world in Molokai, Hawaii, when we got married, he made long-lasting friends and the same in Oklahoma and in Florida. There are no words to describe the depth of his compassion, charity and patience.

Brian is survived by his beloved wife of 16 years, Colette Hebert; his cherished daughter, Jessica Lincoln (Corey Lincoln); his adored son and daughter from his previous marriage, Wesley Mitchell and Alyssa Mitchell (Billy Joyal); his eight grandchildren who were his pride and joy: Layla, Izabella and Kendra Lincoln; Lola and Jackson Mitchell; and Konnor, Wyatt and Cayson Joyal.

Brian is also survived by his mother and father, Leslie and Diana Mitchell; his brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Andrea Mitchell; his sister and brother-in-law, Beth and Roger Preston; his niece and nephews, Brandon Preston, Roger Preston Jr. (Makayla), Andrew Mitchell and Kyra Mitchell as well as his two great-nieces, Paisley and Lakelynn Preston. Brian cherished his aunts, uncles, cousins, and the many friends who he considered family.

Casual services will be held outdoors at his daughter and son-in law's house, Jess and Corey Lincoln, at 186 Golf Course Road, AuSable Forks, NY 12912 on August 23, 2025. There will be a truck procession at 2 p.m. followed by an open service at 3 p.m., when everyone will be welcome to speak in his memory. A reception to honor his life will follow until 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to bring a homemade dish of any kind for Brian's favorite meal, potluck!
