Peru, NY - Anne M. Torrance, 87, of Peru, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 10, 2026, at her home under the loving care of her family.

She was born in Plattsburgh, Oct. 29, 1938, the daughter of Harvey and Ruth (Blair) Bridges.

The family moved to Buffalo when Anne was just 4 years old. She returned to Peru when she was 10 years old to live with her Grandmother Blair, helping her with the little store she had in Bartonville. Both her great-grandfather and grandfather were sick and Grandma Blair had no help. Anne never went back to her family in Buffalo. She graduated from school, second in her class; got married to Norman Torrance and together they raised six children. Anne worked part time at Peru Agway until she began working at Clinton Community College in 1976 until her retirement in 2000.

Anne was a member of the Altar Rosary and Catholic Daughters. She was a Eucharistic Minister, reader at Mass, Altar Server; she would set up funeral Masses and she would deliver communion to the hospital and into homes. Anne worked for the Applefest for many years and for many years she cleaned the church. She was also a 4H leader, Peru Central School board member, Quality Control Inspector for Don G. Orchard in Peru, N.Y., NY State Census, and she hosted many family reunions.

Left to cherish the memory of Anne are: her husband of 70 years, Norman "Norm" Torrance; children, Norma (Nilsa) Torrance of Peru, N.Y., Pam (Gary) Sears of Peru, N.Y., Scott (Cathy) Torrance of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Roy (Robert) Torrance of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Regina Torrance of Melbourne, Fla., and Chris (Steve) McDonald of Angola, N.Y.; her brother, Craig (Deb) Bridges of Orchard Park, N.Y.; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a number of step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Ray Calmes of Java Center, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Emma Torrance of Peru, N.Y.; and cherished nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at a later date and will be announced. Entombment also will be at a later date in St. Augustine's Cemetery.

Anne's family would like to thank Dr. Debra Clark and Taylor's Tender Care Home Health Services, especially Amy. And a special thank you to Linda Patnode for her daily visits with mom.
