Anna Maria Bethlen Obituary

Anna Maria Bethlen-LaFontaine passed away Friday, Feb. 28, 2025. Her family was royalty in their native Hungary and fled the country for Argentina during World War II. Anna was born in Buenos Aires on Aug. 30, 1949 then moved to the United States as a young girl. She became a US citizen in her mid-20's after graduating from Plattsburgh College in 1978 with a B.S. degree in Economics and a Business Administration minor. She was very proud to have worked at the Plattsburgh Press Republican for over 32 years. Anna had a strong gift for the gab and fashion sense.


She is predeceased by her parents Dr. Francis and Ilona Bethlen, and beloved husband Robert LaFontaine.
