GABRIELS, N.Y. - Word has been received of the death of Alana M Aagesen, 64, formerly of Gabriels, and currently of Fort Pierce, Fla.. She was born March 3, 1947, in Lake Placid, the daughter of Mary and Harry Melvin.. Alana grew up in Lake Placid and raised her children in Gabriels. She moved to Clifton Park, N.Y., where she worked as an office manager before retiring to Ft. Pierce. She enjoyed spending time with children and her sister, Nada. In retirement, she enjoyed decorating her new home and enjoying the Florida sun. More than anything, she loved her two granddaughters.. She is survived by one daughter, Kirsten Darrah and her husband, Daniel, of Peru; one son, Erik Aagesen and his wife, Chelsea, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; two granddaughters, Alysa Darrah of Peru and Tatem Aagesen of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; one sister, Nada Cooper and her husband, Kenneth Cooper Sr. of Ft. Pierce; and two nephews, Kenneth Cooper Jr. of Clifton Park and Shane Cooper of Schuylerville, N.Y.. She was predeceased by her parents.. Alana's family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A memorial service will immediately follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Michael Richards officiating.. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Treasure Coast Hospice, 5000 Dunn Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34941.
