William L. Prudhon, II, 61, of the Nelson Road, AuSable Forks, died unexpectedly, Saturday, March 25, 2017, at his home.
He was born in Plainfield, N.J., April 24, 1955, the son of William L. and Helen (Elliott) Prudhon. He grew up in Piscataway and graduated from Piscataway High School in 1973. He continued his education at Paul Smiths College where obtained a degree in Foresty.
He married the former Laura Nelson, Oct. 4, 1975, in St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Black Brook.
After Bill graduated college he joined the U.S. Air Force. From there he joined the U.S. Customs Service in 1989, and served until his retirement in 2015.
Bill enjoyed time with Laura and their family at home and camp. Bill loved working in the woods alongside his sons, daughter, and wife. He also cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. He had a passion for reading and at most times was found glasses on, with his nose in a book. He enjoyed spending time on the golf course with his sister and brother-in-law, and especially spending time in the morning having coffee with his brother-in-law, Terry.
Left to cherish the memory of Bill are, his loving wife of 41 years, Laura Prudhon of AuSable Forks; children, son, Henry Prudhon (Johanna) of AuSable Forks, daughter, Helene Prudhon (George Baker) of AuSable Forks, and son, William Prudhon, III (Elizabeth) of Cadyville; grandchildren, Gabriel and Grace; sister, Marthe Yannich; Alexis Nelson who was like a second daughter to him; in-laws, Susan (Terry), Debbie (Bruce), Karen (Carl), Jean, Fred, and Lisa (Kevin); and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his dear friend and brother-in-law, Terry Nolette. Bill was loved by so many people and will be dearly missed by all.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Phillip Yannich; and parents-in-law, Grace and Fredrick Nelson.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. Military honors will be accorded in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel, at the conclusion of the wake.
Donations in his memory may be made to the family to support Bill's nephews' team in the Autism Awareness Walk.
