William H. "Bill" Branham, 70, of Military Turnpike in Plattsburgh, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2017, at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility with family by his side. He was born in Plattsburgh on June 19, 1947, the son of the late Bronce and Elizabeth (Jabaut) Branham.
Bill was employed as a plumber and pipe fitter for many years for Local 773 in Glens Falls. He was a member of the Plattsburgh Moose Lodge where he served as Governor, Elks Lodge 621, and the Sons of the American Legion Post 1619. He raced cars for many years at Airborne Park Speedway and Riverside Speedway in Canada and was track champion in 1979. He was an animal lover and rescued any stray animal in the neighborhood.
He is survived by his children and their spouses: Kim Branham and companion Robert Parent, Dina and David Guynup, Becky and Brad Rovers, his former wife who was a lifetime friend, Georgia Branham, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Betty Harrell, Diane and Loyal Caron; a brother and sister-in-law, Bucko and Tammy Branham, sister-in-law, Linda Branham; a brother-in-law, Robert Wood; his grandchildren: Ashley and Linsey Covey, Kelsey (Eric) Harvey, Madison Valenti, Courtney and Kenna Guynup, Jack and Reid Rovers; his great-grandchildren: Rayah Smoot and Addison Harvey; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Charles, Russell and Robin Branham, a sister, Bonnie Wood, a brother-in-law, Bruce Harrell and a sister-in-law, Gloria Branham.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12, at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will be in Whispering Maples Mausoleum at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 13. Memorial donations may be offered to the Samuel F. Vilas Home for Adults. The family would like to acknowledge a very special friend, Jocko Rugar, for being one of Bill's closest friends.
