Wanda J. Baraby, 78, of Division Street, Keeseville, died Thursday, March 30, 2017, at her home under the loving care of her family and High Peaks Hospice.
She was born in Cuero, Texas, Oct. 4, 1938, the daughter of Lionel and LoElla (Sasse) Bartlett. She grew up in Victoria, Texas.
Wanda met Peter Gladu while working her first job, waiting tables in Victoria, Texas. At the time he was serving in the U.S. Air Force. They dated for a year, became engaged, and married, Sept. 4, 1955. He predeceased her, Oct. 18, 1982.
Wanda knew Louis Baraby for many years, from buying horses from him and driving school bus. Their relationship advanced from friendship and they married July 9, 1983. He predeceased her, February 28, 2013.
She worked at the North Country Club from 1961 until 1983, Anne Porter Real Estate from 1990 until 1995, and lastly she drove school bus for AuSable Valley Central School from 1979 until retiring in 2001.
Wanda enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, working with her flowers, gardening, and boating and fishing at their summer camp.
Left to cherish the memory of Wanda are her three children, Teresa Desotelle, Peter Gladu, and Dianna Smith; two stepchildren, Susan Peryea and Bryan Baraby; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Lionel Jr.; sister, Naomi; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and two husbands, she was predeceased by two daughters, Debbie and Sandy; and one sister, Anne.
There will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, at St. John's Church in Keeseville with Rev. Kris C. Lauzon, parish priest, celebrating. Burial will be held later in the spring in the St. John's Cemetery in Keeseville.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the FitzPatrick Cancer Center in Plattsburgh.
